Discovery Communications India, which is estimated to make Rs 400 crore revenue annually, is looking to triple its revenue over the next three years through a series of expansion moves. The broadcaster is planning to launch a Male oriented GEC Discovery Jeet early next year.

“We are targeting to triple our turnover in India over the next three years riding on multiple initiatives that are underway, especially the launch of GEC channel, Discovery Jeet and the revamp of Discovery Kids,” PTI quotes Discovery Communications India SVP and GM – South Asia Karan Bajaj as saying.

With Discovery Jeet, the company plans to reach out to 100 million consumers from the 20 million that it currently reaches. The channel will have 5 hours of programming every day.

Agree even I used to watch ID at times.

But India watches CID the most successful investigation program of India.
And now we will have option of Detective Didi

Sorry to say, but I again choose to differ from that circasm. It is just a question of how you relate to story. Most of the people that contribute to TV viewership belong to middle and upper middle class. You cannot expect them to feel at home with these American shows for a prolonged time.
But making a circastic comparison with shows like CID and Detective Didi may not be in good humour. Are not the shows like Savdhaan India and Crime Patrol equally successful?
Remember crime shows come under niche audience category and cannot have the kind of viewership that GECs command.

Whatever it is.. I feel CID is the most disgusting investigation show. Pathetic actors, predictable investigation, unwanted out of sync comedy ohh come on. There have been much better investigative Indian shows bit it hasn't worked.
